Technology Used in the Library Software:
Plato – This is remediation software designed to better prepare students for the AHSGE. The program is used multiple times a week by our remediation classes.
AHSGE Modules - This is remediation software designed to better prepare students for the AHSGE. The program is used multiple times a week by our remediation classes.
Geometer’s Sketch Pad – This program allows the teacher to create visual representations of abstract mathematical concepts. This is used in conjunction with a teacher handbook and student workbook.
Microsoft Office Suite – Students use PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word programs countless times a day to type papers and complete projects. The Library serves a minimum of 200 students per day, with 75 percent of these using the Microsoft Office Suite. The Library staff has given numerous impromptu lessons on the features of the 2007 versions of these programs.
CPS – This program goes along with the “clickers” hardware provided by the school system. The software allows for the preparation, engagement, and assessment of students in a variety of ways that increases student achievement levels by heightening student interest. Specifically, the library uses it as a review mechanism as a part of library orientation sessions.
Photostory – This free Microsoft download is used by a variety of classes to combine audio and video elements to create fluid presentations on a variety of topics.
Destiny – This new integrated library system is used by all students, faculty, and staff to locate appropriate materials for research in the library. This includes print, electronic, and audio-visual materials. Subscription Databases:

Discovering Collection – This database is an excellent general resource, covering topics from history, literature, science, math, people, art, music, dance, health, geography, cultures, timelines, and many more. Our students can locate reference articles, primary documents, and a variety of multimedia using this database.
Discover (ACT) – This database provides our students with interest, values, and abilities inventories; information on thousands of careers, colleges/universities, and majors; and information on job hunting, resumes, and job openings.
American History Online – This database provides a wealth of information on the United States. Our students can locate biographical and reference articles, primary sources, timelines, images, maps, and charts.
Modern World History Online – This database provides information on the various cultures, countries, and civilizations throughout the history of our world. Our students can locate biographical and reference articles, primary sources, timelines, images, maps, and charts.
Science Online – This database provides information on all aspects of math and science. Our students can locate biographies, essays, definitions, diagrams, experiments, timelines, and reliable websites.
Art Museum Image Gallery – This Wilson database contains images of more than 100,000 works of art. These images represent a variety of historical periods, cultures, fine art, and decorative arts. This particular database sees heavy usage from our Art and Social Studies departments.
